A Different Way to Support
What Is
Transformational
Perinatal Coaching?
Transformational Perinatal Coaching is a specialized approach that teaches birth professionals how to use verbal coaching skills to facilitate meaningful conversations with clients throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
Rather than simply providing information or telling clients what to do, coaching helps clients clarify what they want, identify what may be getting in the way, explore their options, make informed decisions, and take action.
The goal is to help clients move from fear to confidence, uncertainty to clarity, and passive participation to empowered engagement.
Every doula, childbirth educator, and birth worker is a birth coach. But not every birth worker has learned how to coach.
Beyond Information
Birth Support Is More Than Information.
Today’s clients already have access to an enormous amount of information. What they often need is help understanding what matters to them, working through fear and uncertainty, exploring their options, making decisions, and taking action.
Information alone does not always lead to informed action. Fear, overwhelm, and limiting beliefs can prevent clients from advocating for themselves and making decisions with confidence.
Birth Work Is Changing
Is Your Role Changing With It?
There are moments in birth work when knowledge and hands-on support do not feel like enough. Coaching offers another way to help clients engage with their own choices, challenges, and capacity.
You Wonder What Else You Could Have Done
A client’s experience did not match what they had hoped for, and you find yourself wondering whether there was another way you could have supported them.
Information Is Not Creating Action
You provide evidence-based information, but fear, overwhelm, or limiting beliefs still make it difficult for clients to advocate for themselves and make confident decisions.
The Work Is Becoming Unsustainable
Long hours of hands-on support can leave birth professionals feeling underpaid, unsuccessful, or burned out. Coaching can expand both the impact and the sustainability of your work.
Add Coaching to the Work You Already Do
Expand Your Toolbox, Not Replace It.
Your Support Remains Essential
Doula support and coaching are complementary, not competing. You continue to provide physical, emotional, informational, and practical support to your clients.
Coaching Adds Another Layer
Intentional prenatal and postpartum conversations help clients explore their beliefs, values, motivation, choices, and capacity for decision-making.
Think of it as expanding your toolbox, not replacing what’s already in it.
Who This Path Is For
Bring Coaching Into Perinatal Work.
This work is relevant to doulas, childbirth educators, prenatal care nurses, midwives, and other perinatal professionals who want to deepen the conversations they have with clients throughout the childbearing year.
You do not need to already be a certified coach. The program is also open to newcomers who are not yet certified doulas or childbirth educators, with an appropriate prerequisite for those entering the field.
Coaching skills can be used in prenatal coaching sessions, during childbirth, and in postpartum support.

The full program goes deeper into strategies for integrating coaching into your services and building a practice around the work.
Why Birth Coach Method
Coaching Built Specifically for Birth Professionals.
A general coaching certification teaches you how to coach people. Birth Coach Method teaches you how to use coaching within pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and perinatal work.
The frameworks, examples, exercises, and conversations are designed specifically for birth professionals and the families they serve.
Student Experiences
What Birth Professionals Say.
Birth professionals from different backgrounds and locations describe how coaching changed the way they understand their role, communicate with clients, and support client-led decision-making.
“I can hardly believe I’ve been a doula for as long as I have without using this method. There was a disconnect between what my clients were telling me they wanted and the choices they ultimately made in regard to their birth experience. This method has helped me better understand, connect with, and empower my clients to align what they believe with what they want and ultimately lead them to achieve those goals.”
Neri has been invaluable in the progress of my career as a Birth Coach. As a doula & childbirth educator, I have learned to look at working with clients from a different perspective that allows them to trust themselves, their ideas, and their bodies, as well as to have a positive birth experience. Thank you, Neri, for all the strategies you have shared, and I cannot wait to kick off my Birth Coaching practice! Best regards,
“The course itself is transformational. I feel changed deeply by what I have learned. The Zoom discussions were very engaging. The assignments and the interactions fostered tremendous growth for me. I highly recommend this course for any type of birth professional.”
“…Creating accountability – rather than being the doula-rescuer when things don’t go as planned. Letting clients find their own answers, take ownership, and advocate for themselves will set them upon a path for life, as people and parents, while meeting them where they are. (Not to mention, it really helps with preventing doula burnout.)”
“This course has been a turning point for me in so many ways. I am grateful that I listened to my instinct in seeking out this course because it has completely shifted how I view birth support and my role. I can’t even count all the times I wanted to support my clients but didn’t know how to ‘make them’ see their vision through. I now have all the tools I never was given to help their vision align with their actions. This is pure magic. Thank you for birthing this idea and this course.”
